In the essay on the profession of medicine , sir Williams Oslar writes that’s the medical field strives for time , “when there should be no more unnecessary death ,when sorrow and crying should be no more , and there should not be any more pain.” I think its important for every physician to keep in mind these basic goals in mind no matter he or she enters. Clearly my grasp of information the foundation of my medical education , is only part of what would make me an effective of my medical education, is only part of what will make me an effective physician.
Growing up, I spend most of my childhood and latescence living with a large family, it was there that I learned a great deal of dedicating your life taking good care of people around you , the commitment and the importance of a strong loving family these values continue to be very important to me . I believe they manifest themselves in both my personal life and personal ethic.
The most appealing aspect of the internal medicine is the opportunities of close pts contact I found in this specialty. One of the main reasons of entering medicine was my desire to work closely with the people. Opportunities to teach and counsel pt's families, to take a few moments to listen, and to provide personal assurance is important to me.
When clinics began in the fourth year of medical school, I found that it was that I naturally attracted to spending time in the medical ward. Often I would arrive early in the morning before the general round started to elicit patients’ history and perform clinical examination. Each time I sat to a pt, I was just amazed that how small changes in the signs and symptoms could lead to different interpretations from one pts to another. knowing myself enjoying solving complex problems in a systemic and methodical manner, with the wide variety of physiological system that human body contains I found each pts as an intellectually challenge to set the differential diagnoses and reach the write diagnoses and the best means of treatment that I would offer to him.
During my internal medicine rotations, I worked with the variety of pts, from a range of economic, social and cultural backgrounds, and featuring wide range of conditions. While I mastered the technique of taking pts history and performing examination, each patient taught me something new.
Throughout my medical school and clinical rotations, I have found countless professors and physicians who were exceptionally willing to share their knowledge and experience with me. I have also come to learn that being a teacher is very critical part of being a physician. Education goes beyond attending and their students and residents, it also cares over the patients.
Explaining, communicating and helping individuals understand and cope with their illness is an integral part of practicing medicine.
As I look forward of my training in internal medicine I’m looking for a residency program that will challenge me to continue to develop my skills to built on my medical school experience and reward my continuing desire to learn.
