Believe in your self and everyone is different .  Yes the exam is hard and

questions were long but it is doable. I prepared for 8 moths for step 1 and 4 months for step 2 ck but i have a friend who prepared for  3 month for step 1 and 6 weeks for step 2 ck  and we got the same scores Laugh.

@Ayman Mabrook you made us all proud .

Hey manu ramsis,

I'd just like to reiterate the advice Ayman gave you.

I haven't taken the steps yet, so don’t have any experiences to draw from, but have plenty of friends who have. The general consensus appears to be that with the right preparation, it is possible to not only pass but to achieve high grades. Remember we do not prepare for the USMLEs, or any other post-graduate exam, so you have to put in plenty of time, effort and resources towards preparing.

P.S. Ayman, mabrouk for matching in Surgery, mashallah, hope to hear great things from you. Thank you for your optimism and inspiration. :)

Hi Manu,

first of all you are welcome to SAMA

and really it is a great step that you took and start to determine your postgraduate pathway from now

I am Ayman from Sudan (graduatet from University of Khartoum 2008)with a sudanese passport (no green card or amercianc passport) and now i got a training spot in Surgery there (and surgery is one of the highly competitive field, but still you can see there is a chance for a Sudanes or Arabian guy even in highly competitive field, then there is a more than great chances for medicine and pediatric, that doesnt mean surgery is better but most probably it is afinancial point of view inUSA)

so Dear honestly there is more than great chance to get a training spot there and you can check the list of those Sudanese guys who got matched this year (http://sama-sd.org/wp-content/…..ble-52.pdf) to know by yourself what you have heard was just rumor, I didn't say everybody who apply will get matched regardless his preparedness but if you prepare well and ask allah altawfeeg then your chance is really good, and we are here pleased to provide any help that can help you in your pathway

regarding step exams, honeslty to get the pass is sooooo easy even easier than our regular final exam in the university in Sudan, but the issue is to get high marks which need from you to prepare well, and the fact that ur friend didn't pass the exam and the questions are too long, yes there is questions which are too long, but still you can solve them within less than 1 and a half of a minute but that need from you a well preparedness and to know how to do that and not just apply and take the exam without preparation because one of the main success key in these exams is to know the technique of the exam..

regarding the visa issue, this may a fact in the past, but right now after the activation of the USA embassy in Sudan it is really easy to get a visa if you have the needed documents for that and U know many doctors (not one or two) who apply recently and get the visa within less than 3 weeks), for me myself and get my second visa to USA within 9 days only…so again that was a rumor..

MRC is better than steps, actually the MRC is a membership that you get through setting for exams, but steps will allow you the chance to get into a complete training program not only to sit for exams and to get certificate and of course the USA training is one of the strong if not the strongest and the best training program, and you will come and see how medicine is going there, really you will enjoy it

so Dear,  I dont think there is any justification  to prevent you from going into steps pathway and to build up your dreams and enjoy medicine and put fingerprint on it, and for me the Steps and USA training is the best choice for us worldwide..

you are always welcome for any inquiries or help..

hi i am a 4th year medical student in the ribat national university and i want to do the USMLE after my graduation but i met some of my friends who disappointed me! one of them (graduate of khartoum university) that the usmle is just a waste of time he took step 2 and didn't pass !!! And am really kind of mixed up after building all my dreams upon it! he told me that the exam questions was too long around a page and can't be answered in 2 or 3 minutes! He also said that even if i did it and passed all through with good marks i wont get a the visa to america and even if i got it i won't get enrolled in a residency program because am from an arabic country ! so please some one help i really wish i can go there and do the residency and rotation there! And wondering too some says that the MRC is better than the USMLE ??

please some one experienced this help me !

thanks :)
