unsurprisingly, to match in IM the following make the most difference AMONG IMGS

1. USMLE step 1 >= 222 , 92

2. USMLE step 2 >= 226 , 94

unsurprisingly, those with longer work experience were more likely NOT to match.

there was no difference between matched and unmatched applicants in research experience, abstracts/publications/presentations.

and matched applicants had 6 interviews on average compared to 3 interviews for unmatched applicants.

so simply put, the single most important thing you can do to increase your chances of matching is scoring very high in USMLE, shiddo heylkum ya shabab!!!!
