IM Primary Care Categorical is a program that concentrates on training physicians for a career in primary care. so they will have more rotations in ambulatory medicine.further training in primary care skills such joint injections. more Palliative Care, Geriatrics, addiction medicine, women's health etc..

They still have the same career options as IM Categorical in doing all fellowships, working as hospitalist.

But as you see their training is modelled towards primary care, so naturally most of their residents go into primary care.

Med/Ped graduate with dual certification in Medicine and Pediatrics, and again most graduates go into primary care and can continue to see both Medicine and Peds patients. But can also pursue careers in Medicine and Pediatrics.
