SAMA Interview Skills Workshops

Chicago, Sept 27th 2015

The workshop was held in the Crowne Plaza Chicago O’hare. It was attended by 33 physicians applying for residency. It started with oral presentations then a Q&A session. Following that, one to one mock interviews were held. At the end of each mock interview, applicants were given immediate feedback regarding their interview skills & advice on how to improve them.

Ahmed Ahmed (Kagam), MD

SAMA Director, Professional Development Program
Interventional Cardiologist and staff physician, St. Bernard Heart and Vascular, Jonesboro, Arkansas

Dr. Ahmed graduated from the University of Khartoum, faculty of medicine in 2004. He subsequently moved to the United States and completed his Internal Medicine Residency training at Penn State Hershey Medical Center and College of Medicine in 2011. He joined the division of General Internal Medicine at Penn State University as an Assistant Professor of Medicine between the years 2011-2012.
He subsequently completed General Cardiology Fellowship at Penn State University and Interventional Cardiology Fellowship at the University of Connecticut. He holds The American Board Certification in Internal Medicine, Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology.


Amar Mahgoub, MD

SAMA Secretary General

Assistant Professor, University of Minnesota.

Dr. Mahgoub graduated from medical school at the University of Iowa, and completed residency training at the University of Texas Southwestern Parkland Hospital in Dallas, TX. His Gastroenterology training was completed at the University of Minnesota, as well as subspecialty training in Transplant Hepatology.


Ahmed H. Abdel-Rahman, MD

Academic Hospitalist, Faculty at Indiana University School of Medicine

Dr. Abdel-rahman graduated from the University of Khartoum in 2004, and completed residency in Internal Medicine in Pinnacle Health, Harrisburg, PA. Dr.Abdel-rahman is involved in resident education and interview selection process at Indiana University Internal Medicine residency program. He has mentored numerous  SAMA observers since 2013.
