SAMA & The Sudanese Community in Minnesota Deliver A Successful Health Education Session

Carol Nelson is a Doctor of Internal Medicine and Family Medicine; leader of Women’s Clinic, Boynton Health Center at the University of Minnesota.
She is a member of the Rural Health Care Initiative to improve health in the Tinkonko Chiefdom of Sierra Leone and is widely involved with organizations supporting human rights and social justice.
Suhair Burhan is a Doctor of Family and Community Medicine at Hennepin County Medical Center, Minneapolis, Minnesota. She is a graduate of the University of Khartoum Faculty of Medicine, Sudan, with additional training in New York and Minneapolis. Suhair is an active member of the Sudanese community in Minnesota.
On November 7th 2015, The Sudanese Community in Minnesota organized a successful health education session in Minneapolis targeting only women; in association with SAMA Members in Minnesota.
The session addressed topics related to women’s healthcare, preventative health and cancer screening.
It was delivered by guest speaker Dr. Carol Nelson and moderated by Dr. Suhair Burhan.
Attendance was great and feedback was very positive.
