POCUS

Background: 

Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) allows for rapid diagnosis and early initiation of treatment. Emergency rooms in Sudan are staffed by junior doctors. The objective of this course series is to improve the quality of POCUS examinations performed by these doctors with the goal of provision of superior patient care that is LIFE-SAVING and COST-EFFECTIVE.

Objective

By the end of the course learner should be able to:

1) operate the POCUS devices and list the uses of their different keys and knobs

2) obtain and interpret POCUS images of the: 

  1. Heart
  2. Lung
  3.  Inferior vena cava (IVC)
  4. Deep veins of lower extremities for deep venous thrombosis (DVT), and
  5. Right internal jugular (IJ) vein

    • Physician Registered with Sudan Medical Council
    • Priority to those:
      • Internal Medicine Registrarrs
      • Emergency Medicine Registrars
      • those affiliated with SAMA Partners in Sudan
  • Payment of SDG 1000 Registration Fees – non-refundable if fails to attend
