Soba University Hospital

Soba University Hospital was established in 1975 as a specialized hospital to treat tuberculosis patients. Later on, it was transformed into a university teaching hospital under the leadership of Prof. Omer Beliel, who performed the second kidney transplant in the Middle East & the first in Sudan.

The hospital includes most specialties, in addition to several specialized units, e.g. Intensive Care Unit, Noura Center for Kidney Diseases, Mycetoma Research Centre, and a Maternal-Fetal Unit. The Hospital houses the Soba Education, Teaching & Examination Center (SETEC) for the ongoing education and training for its staff as well as for that of the wider Sudanese medical community, It is also a center for international examinations.

SAMA’s past projects with Soba University Hospital were in Capacity Building, Critical Care Training, and Craniofacial/Plastic Surgical Missions.

Dr. Shadad Mahmoud

Director-General

Dr. Shadad Mohamed Mahmoud graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Khartoum. He is a Plastic, Reconstructive, and Craniofacial surgeon at Soba University Hospital and an Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of Khartoum. He has an MD in General Surgery and an MD in Plastic Surgery from Sudan and completed a craniofacial surgery fellowship in Taiwan.

Dr. Omer Abdalla Marzoug graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Khartoum in 2021. He is currently working as a graduate teaching tutor at the Department of Anatomy, University of Khartoum.
