Mohamed Ibrahim, MBBS, MD, FACOG
Consultant in OBGYN
Dr. Ibrahim is a graduate of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Khartoum, Sudan. He has completed a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at St. Joseph’s Regional hospital Medical Center/ Mount Sinai School of Medicine, New Jersey. He is an American Board-certified Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynecology and a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. He is currently a member of the FirstHealth of the Carolinas’ Medical Group in North Carolina.
Dr. Ibrahim is a past member of SAMA Executive Committee and served as a Chairperson of the Humanitarian Committee. He is currently the Director of the Women’s Health Program leading training/educational and humanitarian activities. Dr. Ibrahim has great interest and activities in promoting women’s reproductive health and well-being in Sudan. Dr. Ibrahim is a recipient of SAMA Distinguished Service Award.
Craniofacial & Plastic Surgery
Haithem M. Elhadi Babiker, MD, DMD, FAAP, FACS
Consultant in Craniomaxillofacial and Plastic Surgery
Dr. Elhadi Babiker holds a dual degree in medicine and dentistry. He is American Board certified in Plastic Surgery, Oral and Maxillofacial surgery, this places him amongst the top US surgeons with his expertise. He currently an Associate Professor in Pediatric and Craniofacial Surgery and serves as the Fellowship Program Director of the Pediatric Plastic craniofacial fellowship and the Director of the Treacher Collins Program in Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC).
Dr. Elhadi Babiker has been instrumental in leading SAMA Surgical Mission program since 2015 in collaboration with teams from Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and partners in Sudan. His program involved capacity building, training and educational efforts that have culminated in creating a craniofacial center in Sudan based on the CCHMC model. This center will be the first of its kind in East Africa and will serve underprivileged children from a multitude of countries in East Africa and the Middle East. Dr. Elhadi Babiker is a recipient of SAMA Distinguished Service Award.
Elwaleed Ali M. Elhassan, MD, FACP, FASN
Consultant in Nephrology and Hypertension
Dr. Elhassan is a Consultant nephrologist at King Abdulaziz Medical City in Riyadh, KSA. Formerly, he was a faculty member of Wayne State University Medical School in Detroit, MI.
He served as SAMA Secretary General (2014-2016) and has also been SAMA Kidney Programs Director since 2012. In that capacity, he established significant collaboration between SAMA, the International Society of Nephrology, and the nephrology community in Sudan. This venture involves multiple regular educational activities and training connections benefiting academic institutions and renal practitioners in Sudan. Dr. Elhassan is a recipient of SAMA Distinguished Service Award in 2016.
Implantable Cardiac Devices
Khidir Osman, MD, FACP, FACC
Consultant in Cardiology
Dr. Osman is a graduate of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Khartoum, Sudan. He was the first Sudanese physician to complete cardiology training in the US in 1993. As an interventional cardiologist, he is currently the director of the Heart Center of Yuma and a Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of Arizona, Phoenix . He also served as a Member of the Board of Directors of Yuma Regional Medical Center for 3 years.
In 2004, he started a cardiac pacemaker implantation program in Sudan with the support of Medtronic . Under his leadership, this program has been expanded by SAMA and in partnership with Medtronic and other companies to include other devices like Defibrillators, cardiac resynchronization devices and stents.
