The SAMA Institute of Health (SAMA-IH) will serve as the primary body responsible for knowledge dissemination, learning, and research initiatives within the Sudanese American Medical Association (SAMA). It aims to enhance innovation, professional development, and high-quality education in the medical field, specifically for healthcare professionals and learners across Sudan and Sub-Saharan Africa.
Scope of SAMA-IH
Learning Activities: SAMA-IH will organize and deliver learning activities tailored to the needs of healthcare providers in Sudan and Sub-Saharan Africa.
Research: SAMA-IH will conduct research relevant to Sudan and Sub-Saharan Africa, resulting in published papers and presentations at medical conferences.
Health Service: SAMA-IH will collaborate with local healthcare delivery institutes, organizations, and NGOs to improve health service delivery and healthcare processes

Course Summary: Enhancing Patient Safety: A Comprehensive Guide for Healthcare Professionals
This self-paced course equips healthcare professionals with essential knowledge and practical strategies to improve patient safety. Through engaging recorded sessions, participants explore key topics such as human factors, system complexity, team communication, error analysis, clinical risk management, and quality improvement. The course also emphasizes the doctor’s role and effective communication after adverse events. Designed for all healthcare providers, it aims to foster a culture of safety and empower professionals to deliver safer, high-quality care.

This course offers a foundational introduction to emergency care based on the WHO’s Basic Emergency Care framework. It equips healthcare providers with essential skills to rapidly assess and manage critically ill patients using the ABCDE approach. Key topics include managing breathing difficulties, recognizing and treating shock, and responding to altered mental status. Delivered through structured video modules, the course empowers participants to deliver timely, life-saving interventions, especially in emergency and resource-limited settings.

The Cardiovascular Course offers a comprehensive series of recorded lectures covering major cardiovascular conditions and treatments. Topics include coronary artery disease (stable and acute), post-myocardial infarction complications, various arrhythmias, and critical conditions like cardiac tamponade and aortic dissection. Special focus is given to unique scenarios such as mitral stenosis in pregnancy. Taught by international experts, the course provides valuable clinical insights through easily accessible recordings.
