Primary/Urgent Care for the Internally Displaced

Background

Dongola in the Northern state is along the route from Khartoum to Egypt. Thousands have fled the violence in Khartoum to safety in Dongola. There are more than 2,000 IDPs in 15 shelters. This created additional strain on an already fragile health system.

Objective

To support internally displaced patients in IDP shelters by covering the cost of

  1. Doctor’s visits
  2. Laboratory investigations
  3. Medications

Implementation

SAMA is collaborating with local clinics (both adult and pediatric), labs, and pharmacies to offer the patient an integrated health service.

To date, 99 patients have been served by this initiative.
