Dr. Bushra Ibnauf Centers for Humanitarian Relief Support and Learning
The Dr. Bushra Ibnauf Centers for Humanitarian Relief Support and Learning are based in Port Sudan and Gedaref, providing an optimized environment for education and professional growth. Equipped with modern facilities and incorporating innovative learning techniques — including simulation-based education, and Project ECHO sessions — the centers support students and healthcare professionals in building clinical competencies and advancing their careers.

Project ECHO
In 2021, SAMA signed a partnership agreement with Project ECHO to establish Hubs and Learning Sites in Sudan. Following the outbreak of war, SAMA advanced its status to a Project ECHO SuperHub in 2025 to meet the growing learning needs of medical professionals working in conflict-affected areas. Through the ECHO model, SAMA connects healthcare providers with specialists via virtual case-based learning sessions, strengthening clinical capacity in underserved and conflict-affected areas

Sudan Future Leaders Program
The Sudan Future Leaders Program is SAMA’s flagship initiative for building the next generation of Sudanese health and humanitarian leaders. Based at the Dr. Bushra Ibnauf Centers, the program brings together young professionals across five specialized tracks, combining structured learning, field experience, and mentorship to prepare graduates to contribute to Sudan’s health system.

SAMA’s e-learning Program
SAMA’s e-learning programs deliver structured, self-paced medical education to healthcare professionals and students. Courses cover cardiology, trauma, emergency care, patient safety, and medication safety. The programs also include simulation-based education, giving participants access to case-based clinical practice beyond the classroom.
Emerging Leaders Program
The Emerging Leaders Program is a virtual development experience for young adults (18–30, U.S.-based) interested in storytelling, global service, and nonprofit communications. Over 12 months, participants work in a collaborative digital marketing team, contribute to content strategy, and help shape real-world campaigns that elevate humanitarian relief efforts.
Young Researcher Award
The Young Researcher Award recognizes early-career Sudanese researchers aged 35 and under who demonstrate excellence, innovation, and commitment to community-centered research. Introduced in 2026, the award will be presented annually at the Future Leaders Graduation Ceremony at the Dr. Bushra Ibnauf Center in Port Sudan.
Mohamed Elamin Awad Award & Memorial Lecture
The Mohamed Elamin Awad Award and Memorial Lecture honors the legacy of Dr. Mohamed Elamin Awad, a pioneering Sudanese nephrologist and a key figure in establishing SAMA’s renal education programs in Sudan. SAMA presents the annual award to the Sudan Renal Fellow who demonstrates excellence and dedication during fellowship training, and sponsors a state-of-the-art memorial lecture by an expert in renal medicine.
Publications
SAMA’s publications span peer-reviewed research, medical education, and humanitarian response — documenting the organization’s work and contributing evidence to healthcare delivery in conflict and resource-limited settings.
