About SAMA
Vision
Our vision is to advance medical knowledge, develop and maintain the highest professional and ethical standards of medical practice and health care through scientific, educational and charitable initiatives.
Mission Statement
Sudanese American Medical Association “SAMA” is a non-profit, non-political, educational and humanitarian organization. Its members are medical professionals of Sudanese descent.
SAMA is committed to the enhancement of the professional and personal development of its members, thereby enabling them to contribute optimally to the health and well-being of society through advocacy, education, information and leadership.
Objectives:
1. Professional:
To provide a forum and means for communication and acquaintance between Sudanese medical professionals in North America.
- To facilitate exchange of medical information, communication and acquaintance between medical professionals in Sudan and those in North America through: educational seminars and/or conjoined medical research projects.
- To promote and organize professional relationships between SAMA members and medical organizations in North America and Sudan.
- To establish a membership directory and a web page which can serve as a source of references and information.
- To aid in the establishment of chapters in various states when requested.
2. Educational:
- To enhance the medical knowledge of the members of SAMA, to contribute to the medical profession, and to support continuing medical education.
- To provide assistance to medical students and interns of Sudanese descent, especially those who want to pursue further training in the USA.
- To sponsor speakers, textbooks and other learning materials for medical schools in Sudan.
3. Humanitarian
- To pursue all possible means to improve the health status of citizens in Sudan and North America.
- To encourage and provide medical aid to needy patients of Sudanese descent, and to organize donations of medicine and medical supplies to poor families in Sudan.
