About Dr. Isam Osman
Dr. Isam Osman (Rahmat Allah aleyhu) was a consultant vascular surgeon who led the Vascular and Endovascular Department and Operating Rooms at King Saud Medical City in Riyadh, KSA. A graduate of the University of Khartoum, he built a distinguished career in the UK, primarily at Ipswich Hospital. He was a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) in Glasgow and London and the first Royal College of Surgeons England Country Advisor for KSA.
Dr. Osman played a key role in founding the Sudanese Association of Vascular Surgeons and served as its first president. Following the outbreak of war in Sudan in April 2023, he led humanitarian efforts through the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center and launched SAMA’s Trauma ECHO program to support surgeons in Sudan.
He passed away peacefully on September 29, 2023, shortly after returning from a humanitarian mission to Port Sudan, where he performed surgeries and delivered medical aid. To honor his legacy, the Sudanese American Medical Association has established the Dr. Isam Osman Award for the outstanding surgeon. This year the award will be presented at the SAMA Annual Summit in Cairo on December 20, 2025
