SAMA and Project ECHO
In 2021, the Sudanese American Medical Association (SAMA) became a Project ECHO hub, joining a global network dedicated to democratizing knowledge and improving outcomes in underserved regions. Since then, SAMA has actively used the Project ECHO model to train healthcare providers in Sudan across a range of critical specialties, including Emergency Medicine, Cardiology, Infectious Diseases, Diarrheal Diseases, Trauma, and Nutrition
This model has empowered local professionals, built local capacity, and connected frontline workers with global experts through virtual communities of practice.
In 2025, SAMA was recognized for its outstanding contribution and officially designated as a Superhub, enabling it to recruit, train, and mentor new ECHO partners.
