Program Goal

To develop project-ready humanitarian leaders equipped to manage food security and communicable disease programs in dynamic, high-stakes environments. Fellows will earn globally recognized credentials and build cross-cutting competencies such as:

  • IYCF Counseling

3. Communicable Disease Control

  • Outbreak Response: Cholera, Malaria, Measles, Polio, COVID-19
  • Infection Prevention & Control (IPC)
  • WASH and Disease Prevention

4. Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting

  • M&E in Health Emergencies
  • Emergency Surveys & Assessments
  • WHO Humanitarian Reporting Formats

Global outbreak alert and response network (GOARN) Training

Fellows complete Tier 1 GOARN eCourses (pre-deployment readiness) covering:

  • IPC
  • Coordination
  • Risk Communication

Arizona State University (ASU) Academic English Track

(Collaboration with ASU’s Education for Humanity)

  • Academic Thinking 1: Critical analysis, hypothesis formation
  • Academic Thinking 2: Research design, bias detection
  • Academic Writing: Structured reports, formal writing
  • Academic Research: Citation, argumentation, independent analysis

PHAP Certification Track

Fellows are supported to pursue the Core Humanitarian Certification and specialized credentials through PHAP, with:

  • Study materials & mock exams
  • Peer support & mentorship
  • Aligned course content and ethics training

Upon Completion

Fellows will earn:

  • 14+ global certificates (WHO, UNICEF, ASU, DisasterReady)
  • GOARN Tier 1 certification
  • ASU Academic English Fluency certificate
  • PHAP exam readiness & support
  • Dr. Bushra Ibnauf Humanitarian Response Fellowship Certificate
  • Eligibility for global NGO, UN & public health roles
