Heartfelt condolences

With a heavy heart, we share the news of the untimely death of Dr. Isam Salih Osman on September 29, 2023. Dr. Osman was Head of the Vascular and Endovascular Department and Director of the Operating Room for King Saud Medical City in Riyadh, KSA. He was also President of the Sudanese Association of Vascular Surgeons and Country Advisor for the Royal College of Surgeons of England. May Allah bestow on him his mercy and forgiveness. 

We extend our sincere condolences to his wife, Dr. Geehan Etigani Elmusharaf, and his children Nadine and Mohamed.

Dr. Osman was passionate about serving Sudan and its’ people. After the war broke out, through his work with the King Salman Center for Humanitarian Aid and Relief, he was able to send life-saving medical supplies and medications to Sudan in challenging circumstances. Earlier this month, he led a surgical mission from KSA that performed several life-saving surgeries. 

In 2022, Dr. Osman was a leading subject matter expert in SAMA’s Surgery ECHO. After the war broke out, in partnership with the Sudan Association of Vascular Surgeons, he launched SAMA’s Trauma ECHO which recruited global experts in trauma from all over the world to share their experiences in managing trauma patients with the trauma surgeons in Sudan.

Today, we mourn an exceptionally talented surgeon, a revered mentor, and a humanitarian leader. He carried all that with rare grace and humility.
