Award Summary
SAMA recognizes the critical role of youth in rebuilding Sudan and shaping a better future for Sudanese communities. For this reason, SAMA has consistently invested in youth development as a core part of its strategy to nurture future leaders.
In 2026, SAMA introduced the Young Researcher Award to recognize and celebrate early-career researchers for their contributions to knowledge, innovation, and community impact. The award will be presented on Future Leaders Graduation Ceremony on December 26, 2026, at the Dr. Bushra Ibnauf Center in Port Sudan
Who the Award Honors
The award honors young Sudanese researchers who demonstrate resilience, innovation, and commitment to serving Sudanese communities through research.
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be 35 years old or younger
- Must be of Sudanese origin
- Must be an early-career researcher
Selection Criteria
- Demonstrates productivity through academic or professional work, such as publications, presentations, reports, or other contributions to knowledge and practice.
- Research or scholarly activities address challenges, priorities, or opportunities that benefit Sudanese communities, society, or development.
- Demonstrates leadership potential, teamwork, and actively supports, mentors, or guides peers, contributing to capacity-building and collaboration.
- Demonstrated ability to sustain scholarly or research activities during conflict, displacement, or resource-limited conditions.
